Updated Pictures

Lucas is standing now. Well, pretty much pulling himself up on anything...the wall, the couch, the baby gate, you name it. Not only that but he is into EVERYTHING. His favorite thing to get into is the cupboards of the entertainment system. He crawls over and pulls open the cupboard and then opens the drawer and empties the contents all over my living room. I then go and pick everything up and then Lucas crawls back over and empties it again. It's a fun game.

Our little family went on a hike a few weeks ago. It was nice outside and since it was stake conference we thought it would be fun to drive up to Mount Charlston and go for a hike. We had so much fun. Tibo loved it. There was still a little bit of snow and it took 15 minutes just to get Tibo to come out of it. He was having so much fun playing fetch in the snow with John. It was such a fun afternoon. We packed a little picnic lunch and stayed up there for a couple of hours.

John and his company finally got their first Gold Medal in Corporate Challenge. They took the gold in Kickball...yes Kickball...you know where you kick the four-square ball and then run around the bases. You know, the game you played when you were in 3rd grade. Well they hung in there and won all of their games. It was so much fun to watch these big bad adults having a blast playing kick ball.

Lucas has started eating finger foods. This was his first time having a little biter bisquit. He loves them but they make a huge mess. I took this picture and couldn't help but post it. It is just too cute.

Crawling!!!

So Lucas has entered a stage in his life that I have been somewhat dreading. He is crawling. He went from trying so hard to being able to crawl all the way across the room while Mommy wasn't looking in two days. Crazy. Apparently it is one of those things that once you figure it out...you run with it!!

It has been so much fun to see him progress. And now that he is doing it is do much fun to see how happy he is that he can move around. Although, now I need to baby proof my house. He has already learned that he can pull each DVD out one by one off of the shelf. I guess that means I need to move them higher :)

Wish me luck as we try to survive the mobility :)

Corporate Challenge

John and the company he is working for are participating in the Corporate Challenge. Basically, it is a competition that companies of similar sizes compete against each other in a variety of events. The events are anything from things like Soccer, Basketball, softball, etc to things like archery, chess, range shooting. They even have events like the "Biggest Loser" and a walk race. It just started a couple of weeks ago and it has been so much fun to watch. It is really cool because John is gaining friendships with the people he works with.

John so far has competed in two events. Last weekend he competed in the Raquetball singles competition. He did great and took home the Silver. It was a very long day...I think he had 5 games over like a 4 hour period. Well, all this week they competed in the Softball competition. They made it all the way to the championship round and then lost. So they took home the silver. It was so much fun though watching everyone have such a great time. There was laughing and joking around. Here are a couple of pictures from the championship game.

We have been taking Lucas to all of the games and he seems to make friends at each game. The little girl is a guy John works with daughter Bella. She absolutely loves Lucas. Every single game that we go to she runs up to Lucas and gives him a little kiss on the head and then says Hi to him. The boy in the other picture is the son of another guy who John works with. He and Lucas played Pick-a-boo the entire game and they were both just laughing....It was so much fun to watch.

Lucas is also trying so hard to crawl. He gets up on all fours and then moves backwards. He's stuck in reverse. He hasn't quite figured out how to move forward yet. But I have a feeling that with in the next week or so I am going to have a very mobile baby on my hands. I don't know what I am going to do at that point.

Easter Season

My goal for the last few months has been to update our family blog. So the month is almost over and I am doing it...barely but I am.

This Easter season has been so wonderful. We were able to spend the last week with my family here in Vegas and then John's family up in Heber City. Easter is a great time to reflect back and spend time with family. Easter is a great time when we get the opportunity to think of the Savior and all that he has done for us. I know that John and I have been truly blessed and we have such a strong testimony that the Savior Lives and that we will live again...together with our families. I am so grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am so thankful for the knowledge I have and for the testimony that I have gained.

Here are a few pictures from our easter break in Heber. As you can see, Lucas has two new teeth. He had so much fun with everyone and it was especially fun to see Lucas and Ethan interact with each other. I think we spent more time watching them play than we did anything else.

We also had the opportunity to go up to Park City and go up to the Olympic Park. Unfortunately it was closed for a private event but we had so much fun up there having a little snowball fight.

This last picture is the sunset on Easter at the house we were staying at in Heber. It was so beautiful. What a difference clean and crisp air makes on a sunset :)

What's new?

Well I realize that I told everyone that my goal for the year was to keep everyone up to date as to what is going on in our family more regularly! I think that twice in one month is not too bad....Rationalization complete!

Well here at the Turner household things are going pretty smoothly. We finally finished painting. The kitchen was the last thing to paint and we finished it this afternoon. Thank goodness for a three day weekend. Now is the fun part of putting everything back together, yuck.

John was just recently called to be the second counselor in the Elders Quorem Presidency. Yesterday the entire presidency had to speak in sacrament meeting. John did great. He did it on an article in the Ensign from this month about living a balanced life. It's funny how the Lord always has you speak on the things you need the most. With school, work and family it is hard to fit in all the things in life you really need like prayer and scripture study. John read some great insights from several apostles and things. After his talk he told me he was greatful to have been given the opportunity to speak on this topic. Hopefully we can all do better in that catagory.

I just got a promotion at work!! Yay for me! Actually I am really excited. I was just bumped into the accounting department at a Senior Property Accountant. I work for a Developer/Property Management company. For the last 2 years I have been the CFO's assistant/bookkeeper for several of the properties. Now I am leaving behing Bob (he's the CFO) and moving over into a little cube as a Senior property accountant. I am most excited about the word "Senior" it makes me feel all special.

Lucas is doing great! He started with a great new babysitter. Her name is Karla. Her husband works with me. John and I joke around that we hit the Grandma Jackpot with Karla. She is quickly becoming Lucas' serogate grandma! :) He loves her. She watches him 4 days a week. Just him---no other babies. I love it. Here are a couple of pictures since I last posted.

5 Months Old

Well---As you can see from this blog I am a pretty busy little mama! End of the year accounting stuff really sucks all the time. Anyway- Lucas is now 5 months old. I have no idea where the time went. It honestly feels like just the other day we were bringing him home from the hospital. Man I just really love him. He is such a joy in our lives and I can't believe how fast he is growing and changing.

Things that have happened since November....

1. Lucas has two new teeth-- the bottom two front teeth. I have pretty much stopped breast feeding, lets just say "OUCH"!

2. Lucas started eating solid foods. He really loves his carrots but peas are in a close second. The only thing he doesn't like about it is that he can't get it in his mouth as quickly as he would like. But he is a great eater!!

3. Lucas is sitting up!! He hates to be on his back. He really loves tummy time but would rather be sitting up looking around.

4. Tibo and Lucas have become great friends already. I wish we had a camera out the other day. Lucas was laying on his blanket on the floor in the living room when Tibo decided that he wanted to play with him. So Tibo plopped himself right down next to Lucas and put his nose really close to Lucas' face. Lucas immediately started laughing and grabbing at the dogs ears. They kept this going for about 10 min and Tibo just layed there while Lucas grabbed and giggled. It was the cutest thing ever.

5. Lucas has topped 15lbs!! He is super short for his age but pretty "round" you could say. He is doing great and growing more and more every day.

6. School started back up for John. He is one crazy man- he is taking three classes and a lab this semester. However, one of the classes he is taking is Ethics for Engineers...he thinks it should be very interesting since he has seen first hand some of the things Engineers are facing.

7. We painted our downstairs. Finally my house feels like an actual home rather than just a place that we live. We have spent the last 4 1/2 years living in white painted apartments and now that we have painted...it feels so warm and homey :)

My new year's resolution is to keep the family updated more with pictures and stories of Lucas...so here's the start and we'll see how it goes.

November 15, 2007

It was about time to add some pictures of Lucas. It amazing how fast babies grow and change. I feel like every morning I need to take a good look at my baby and enjoy him exactly as he looks and acts right then because tomorrow he will be a little older and a little different. Someone told me before I even had lucas that I needed to enjoy every second and appreciate it because he would grow faster than I think...boy were they right. Watching my little boy grow and change is one of the highlights of my day!! He is so much fun to just stare at.

Three months is coming up and on Saturday we will be getting some portraits taken of him. We will see how all goes in trying to get him to smile when he is supposed to. I hear the place we are taking him to is really great! We shall see.

This is picture of Luke playing in his little bouncy seat thing. He really loves to play in it because he can make the music start all by himself. This picture was taken the first time we put him in it. I don't think he knew what was going on.

What a little cutie is he!! His beautiful baby blues are gonna stay that way it seems. He gets that from his Aunt Jaynie and his Great Grandma Lyons...not from me or Daddy.

Lucas just really likes to "chill". This is him just kickin' back in the recliner with his boppy pillow.

This is my new FAVORITE picture! He is such a happy boy and I love to make him smile! He just gets a giggeling and it makes me so happy! :)

I have decided that I absolutely love being a mama and I can't believe why anybody would not want to be! It is such a joy every moment you see your little one looking at you. Especially when I haven't seen him all day and as soon as he sees me he gets a big cheesy grin because he is happy to see me!!
